We’re thrilled to announce that Dr. Katie Stack-Morgan, senior research scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and deputy project scientist for the Curiosity rover, will be the featured guest on our next episode of Red Planet Live, airing Tuesday, June 17th at 5:00 PM PT, hosted by Ashton Zeth.

Dr. Stack-Morgan is one of NASA’s leading planetary geologists, with a research focus on the sedimentary history of Mars and the role water has played in shaping the planet’s surface. In addition to her work with the Mars Science Laboratory mission (which operates the Curiosity rover), she has also contributed to the Perseverance rover mission and served on the science teams for Mars sample return studies and instrument development. Her research bridges field geology, remote sensing, and rover-based science—all central to understanding the Red Planet’s past habitability.
During the live episode, Dr. Stack-Morgan will share updates on Curiosity’s continued exploration of Gale Crater, insights into current Mars science goals, and her perspective on the future of robotic and human exploration of the Red Planet. The broadcast will run for 60 minutes, and audience members will have the chance to submit questions live. To be part of the conversation, we invite you to register now.
If you can’t attend live on June 17th, the full RPL episode will be available afterward on the Mars Society’s YouTube channel, and later on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, and RSS feed.
