We’re very pleased to announce that Dr. Katie Stack Morgan—Acting Project Scientist for NASA’s Perseverance rover at JPL—will join us on the Mars Society’s Red Planet Live podcast on Tuesday, June 17 at 5:00 PM PT, hosted by Ashton Zeth. As the lead scientist on the Perseverance mission, Dr. Stack Morgan has played a critical role in exploring the ancient river delta in Jezero Crater—where the rover continues its search for signs of past microbial life.

In this episode, hosted by Ashton Zeth, Dr. Stack Morgan will talk about the rover’s most recent discoveries, including intriguing rock formations, sediment layers, and her team’s evolving strategy for selecting and caching samples. Her insights will shed light on how Perseverance is advancing our understanding of Mars’ geological history and preparing the way for future sample return missions.
The conversation will also cover how decisions are made on where and what to sample, what scientists hope to learn from the collected cores, and what these findings could mean for the long-term search for life on the Red Planet. Viewers will be able to submit questions live during the 60-minute show. To be part of the conversation, register today!
If you can’t attend live on June 17th, the full RPL episode will be available afterward on the Mars Society’s YouTube channel, and later on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, and RSS feed.
