University of Michigan Analog Rover Projects

The Michigan Mars Rover Team is a student research group with a mission to develop manned ground vehicles for planetary exploration. The university students have already demonstrated an Analog rover at the Mars Desert Research Station, and are working on follow-on designs.

Photo of Everest Rover at the MDRSThe team's first manned Mars rover prototype "Everest" is based on an Army FMTV platform and was tested at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. Current status of that team is unknown, but activity was seen at their web site up to 2005.

The extraordinary of what I had seen combined with the exhilaration of riding a ATV, had me on a natural high for hours after it, and I still have the silly smile creeping up on me, every time I sit still for a few seconds.
