Phoenix Landing Produces Major Media Coverage For Mars Society
In the wake of the successful landing of the Phoenix Mars Lander less than 10 days ago, the Mars Society has received a spike in coverage by major media around the world.
The Syndey Morning Herald, one of the largest newspapers in Australia,
ran an article on May 27 that quoted Jon Clarke of the Mars Society Australia; that
same day,
Information Week, a major magazine for technology professionals,
ran an article on its web site quoting several members of the Mars
Society and discussing the Mars Parties held across the world to
celebrate the landing of Phoenix.
The trend continued when Mars Society President Dr. Robert Zubrin was featured as a leading expert in human Mars exploration in a CNN article on the psychology of a human Mars mission on May 29. The following day, Voice of America News featured Marssociety.org as their Web Site of the Week.
Members of the Mars Society are encouraged to send local news organizations story ideas featuring the Society; interested parties can contact pr@marssociety.org for information on how to do so most effectively.
