Mars Science Laboratory Still on Course!
You will be pleased to learn that NASA administrator Michael Griffin announced that the program has been given the authority to continue for a planned 2009 launch.
Thank you for your response to our urgent call for action. A large number of you responded, as witnessed by our fax sending tool. Note that as was indicated in an edit to the online version of the original newsletter, there was actually no congressional vote planned, as was implied in the version that was emailed (the word "vote" was inserted by mistake in our hurry to get the news of this impending decision to you as soon as possible). However, a decision was to be taken by NASA management, that may have been influenced by your input to your representatives.
Our apologies for those of you who had problems with our fax tool. The issue was with the public service we used to look up congressional data, on which we have no control.
