Why am I asked to Log in?
You do not have to log in if you only want to browse the contents of this site that we have made publicly available. There is however some content and other benefits that are only available if you set up an account and log in.
If you saw a page that specifically told you that you were not
authorized to see something, that is because we have not published the
content you were trying to access to visitors who are not logged in, or
because you tried to perform some other unauthorized action like
leaving a comment.
Becoming a member of the web site is free
Becoming a member of the site is free. All you have to do is to click on the "join" link (
- Post comments or questions at the bottom of content that allows it
(news articles, etc.). These help pages show this feature.
- Track your donations. If you are not a Mars Society member but want
to donate to us, having an account will allow you to see a list of the
donations you have made.

Web members who become members of The Mars Society (which does require a membership fee as detailed on the purchase form) gain even more access. With your paid membership, you get these additional benefits on this web site:- Access to additional material (like the Marspapers library).
