ARES Analog Rover Project
The Analog Rover Experimental System (ARES) is a prototype Mars exploration vehicle that has been tested at the Mars Desert Research Station. That project is currently inactive.
The ARES design is one of three
winners of a contest sponsored by the Mars Society and is meant to
fulfill the need for a low-cost, mobile Mars analog exploration test
bed. The vehicle departed Kingston on Saturday, February 15, 2003 and
headed towards the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah for testing in
a simulated Martian environment.
