Commander's Report

April 25, 2008

Henrik Hargitai

We finally got to discuss the meaning of life in the afternoon, after a
busy day on Mars.
We all (!) got up before sunrise (!!) for some scenic pictures for the
movie.
We had to repeat the scene 4 times, and the 4th was perfect,
according to the crew cinematographer.
In the morning hours we risked stopping Wendy, and as expected we could
not start her up again. After hours of discussion, we discovered that
despite the voltage meters good value (24V) probably the batteries are
too old, since after recharging we could start it. Then we went on the
first EVA of the day, with the Engeneer, for whom this was the 2nd
ATV-based EVA. We had pre-selected a road using Hugh S. Gregory's MAST
software and tried to follow it. More details in the EVA report. After
returning, we had some lunch, and we went to the 2nd MAST-based EVA, to
Skyline Rim, where we played the "Stone Breaker" and a NASA scene,
where some marsonauts are rescuing others. At the same time, we
started the breadmaker to prepare our first bread.
Yesterday evening we made a short audio interview series for the
Hungarian Public Radio which was accepted today and will be edited in
Hungary and broadcasted tomorrow.
In the evening we continued recording scenes for the film, and made dinner, closing the day. We started to prepare for our returning to Earth.
