Commander's Report

April 24, 2008

Henrik Hargitai

We have discussed the future of this crew as a group. Some want to stay together, others don't believe that such a diverse group could stay together for a long time.

Florian Selch, our Guest Austronaut, has left the station for the Austrian Base Camp. He told us many things about AustroMars -- we liked the idea of the Salzburg-based mission control center and a secondary crew in Hanksville.

The strong wind returned.

We seem to have re-socialized to the MDRS subculture. Our primary goal is now to write official and journalist reports (for Mars Society and a Hungarian daily newspaper www.nol.hu/mars, both daily), record scenes for our movie, record audio of EVAs and dinner-time briefings for the psychology experiments, worry about the generator, repair the toilet problems and try to execute our Hungarian mission control’s instructions about the rover and the meteorology station.

Yesterday evening we used the telescope. We saw zodiacal light, Saturn, Mars, M13. We plan to get up at sunrise tomorrow.
