Commander's Report
13 March 2008
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto
It was another great day on Mars. I was the first one to wake up this morning. Before my Crew woke up I had made some coffee and started to put the corned beef and cabbage on the stove to cook for the better part of the day. I then started to clean the potatoes and carrots and cook them with the cabbage.
Saint Patrick's Day. Well, not exactly. Each year the Family Living Analysis on Mars Expedition (F.L.A.M.E.) Crew has celebrated Saint Patrick's Day on Mars. This year we will be leaving Mars a day earlier so we decided to celebrate today with our Local Support and his family.
Good food and great company. What a way to end our current rotation at the Mars Desert Research Station. This rotation has been filled with days of training, field investigations and family fun. Life on Mars is not too bad if you ask me.
I conducted an EVA to various geologically diverse regions near the Mars Desert Research Station with my Executive Officer-in-Training. We collected rocks, minerals and soil samples. The weather was not too friendly so we decided to head back to the Hab. We then prepared for our Saint Patrick's Day feast with Don and his family.
It was a wonderful night filled with music and laughter. Gino and Brady even entertained us with a friendly wrestling match as Angelina and I danced to Celtic music. Before we knew it, it was time for Don and his family to go home and for us to start another evening of writing Mission Reports.
We will have no problems sleeping tonight.
