Log Book for March 11, 2008
Commander's Check-In
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto Reporting

Crew Physical Status:
The Crew is doing wonderful! They are all tired due to the longer days
but are in good spirits.

Time Departed/Returned from EVA:
EVA 10: 16:30 hrs Departed, 19:45 hrs Return

Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results:
Our Commander, Educator and Secutiry Officer went to a previously
visited concretion site. There are theories that these features are not
concretions at all! These geologic features are believed to have the
same diagenesis as concretions but are not spherical in form. These
features, once "mature" in size and shape, actually take a form of
sphere and/or cones. The smaller ones tend to weather out in cones but
the larger one are circular in nature with concentric rings surrounding
a complex, coned-shape nucleus (sometimes there are "twin cones" within
the nucleus). This regions is very similiar to the Salt Wash Member
found at Box Canyon where similiar features are found (with the
exception of the absence of white, circular features found at this new
location SE of the Hab).

EVA Data/Interpretations:
EVA data is currently being analysed. This was a very productive EVA
that please the CDR. It was nice to get out after two days of being in
the Hab.

Hab Maintenance:
Necessary cleaning of the potable water tank within the Hab was done.
Images were taken of inside the tank in which the CDR made the decision
that today would be the day to clean out the tank. Not only for the
health and safety of the Crew but for the incoming Crews as well. It
is has been decided that this tank should be cleaned 2-3 times during
each field season until a filter can be installed in the primary water
tank(s) as well as for inside the tank within the Hab.

Report Transmission Schedule:
Reports by 22:00 (Mars Time)
Commander (Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto)
Executive Officer in Training Report (Angelina Zabala)
HSO Report (Jared Szymanoski)
Educator Report (Jared Szymanoski)
Crew Narrative (Madeline Zabala)

Plans for Tomorrow:
The F.L.A.M.E. Crew will take an early EVA to the site that the CDR went
to today. Metrics will be taken of sample in situ as well as some
samples will be extracted for further study. Soil sampling will be
taken at various geologically diverse regimes at and near the Mars
Desert Research Station.

Inventory:
Inventory is sufficient.
