EVA #6 Report
March 8, 2008
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto
Time:
Departed 12:35; Returned 14:50
Crew Members:
Commander, EVA Spacesuit Technician, Executive Officer in Training,
Security Officer, Chief HSO
Site Location:
Brahe and Copernicus Highways
Transit Mode:
PEVs
Objectives:
The F.L.A.M.E. Crew's initial goals were to traverse towards the
Barsoom Hills. Ptolemy Trail was not seen so the Crew decided to go
down Copernicus Highway, heading south. This region was new to the
Crew so they continued on. They came up to beautiful hills covered by
their own aprons. Colors of purple, red, brown and white covered the
landscape. Gypsum covered hills sparkled from the sun's masked light
as the clouds warned us of menacing weather. We were unable to conduct
any soil or rock samples today due to the EVA being cut short.
Our Executive Officer was unable to go to her field site due to the
weather. She has high hopes of going there tomorrow. Our Chief
Engineer will go with her so he can learn about Stacy's fieldwork.
Lessons Learned:
Do not go up big hills very slowly. Learn how to use the foot brake.
Also, when the EVA team says they are in the airlock, they really are
not!
