Commander's Check-In
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto Reporting
Crew Physical Status:
The crew is tired and edgy but in good health.
Time Departed/Returned from EVA:
Departed: 15:00 hrs, Returned: 17:30 hrs
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results:
Today the F.L.A.M.E. Crew took an EVA to Box Canyon in order to show
our Chief Engineer the wonderful geology that Mars has to offer.
We collected some samples which we placed in the glovebox in the
MDRS Science Laboratory. Some of the F.L.A.M.E. crew were tired and
had problems with the helmet and spacesuit. Especially the younger
F.L.A.M.E. Crew members.
EVA Data/Interpretations:
Besides some issues with spacesuit and helmets, excellent samples
were collected and lessons learned related to when or when not to go on
EVA.
Hab Maintenance:
Our Chief Engineer and Chief HSO checked over the PEVs in preparation
for our EVA. Our Chief Engineer cleared out the Engineering airlock of
all non-essential items. The Commander maintained the GreenHab and
transplanted the mature plants from Aquatic Tank #2 (AT#2) to AT #1 and
left the juvenile plants in AT#2 so they would not go into shock.
Report Transmission Schedule:

Plans for Tomorrow:
After our EVA today I have decided for the F.L.A.M.E. Crew not to have
an EVA tomorrow. The F.L.A.M.E. students will work on their school
assignments and relax as the rest of the Crew will maintain the Hab.
Inventory:
We have plenty of supplies that we brought with us. When our Executive
Officer comes for Re-Supply we will add to our food inventory. As for
other non-essentials, there will be a need of two bags of potting soil
for the GreenHab, laboratory gloves for the MDRS Science Laboratory as
well as for the GreenHab, tie fasteners for various Engineering needs,
fluorescent bulbs for the MDRS crew quarters and the GreenHab, test
tube racks (as I noticed as I was prepping the MDRS Laboratory that
there were none) and a pump for AT#4. Another pump will be needed in
order to supply air to AT#2 (which is the cause of most of the plants
dying initially as observed by Crew 67. The water became stagnant,
thus killing the plants).
Support Requested:
