Commander's Report
Randall Shelaga Reporting

Day 12 of Boot Camp started early today, the entire crew was up at
07:00. We had a busy day ahead of us, we planned visits to Goblin
Valley State Park, Little Kicking Horse Canyon, Arches National Park
and then back to Green River to send "Kim" off on a bus to Salt Lake
City.

The first order of the day was our first breakfast since breaking sim.
"Whisky" and "Fam" with a little help from "Biobabe" and "LOx" wrestled
up some pancakes from a box, supplemented with some freeze-dried
strawberries and syrup. The pancakes were quickly done and the crew
prepared...Fuel - Check, GPS - On, "Whisky" - here, "Fam" - here, "LOx"
- here, "Googly" - here, "Kim"- here, "Biobabe" - here and "Blondie" -
here. We were ready for EVA.

We traveled the road traveled by previous crews, but we had an
aggressive plan, three different parks in one day. First was Goblin
Valley State Park, a place where hoodoos are carved into the sandstone,
standing like an army of goblins, locked in time. The crew quickly
explored this area, as we had plans, more to see.

Quickly we were off to the Slot Canyon, except no-one on the crew knew
the name, so a little bit of exploring lead us into another canyon
system, which just didn't match the recollections of "Whisky" and
"Fam". We turned back and found the right road, we were looking for
Little Kicking Horse Canyon! This canyon system is located near Goblin
Valley State Park and is representative of a slot canyon, narrowing
from a wide canyon floor to just barely wide enough for a person and
almost impossible to squarely fit your foot. To add to the geological
interest of this site, we were briefed that it has a fault, which is
clearly visible from the parking lot.

After our hike through the canyon, we were hungry, we drove to Green
River grabbing fast food enroute to our final park of the day Arches
National Park. It was time to move on, we had to get to the park,
otherwise, we didn't want to revise our EVA plan.

Arriving at Arches National Park, we quickly descended on the Visitors
Centre to see what we could find and plan our way through the park. We
only had an hour, because we had to have "Kim" at the bus station by
18:00. But we could do it, we visited Balanced Rock, Delicate Arch and
Windows Arches, we kept pressing on, however, our time was up -- we had to
leave.

Back to Green River! We were reluctant to say farewell to Guy de
Carufel ("Kim") who was our GPS Precision researcher and after the
departure of Zahra our Surface Exploration Systems Engineer. However,
we sent him off back to Earth.

We are now back at the Station, having a quick meal, finishing reports
and getting ready for the incoming crew. A good nights rest, and we
will be on the road again this time to Capitol Reef, our final EVA.

Until tomorrow!
