Journalist's Report
BioBabe & Lox Reporting
Do a little dance, make a little luv, get down tonight...No, it's not
'Saturday Night Fever' - it's Cabin Fever - a strange and unfamiliar
desire to break loose and do a jig.
After a long day yesterday of cleaning and keeping busy the crew ate a
late dinner with a special treat, fresh made bread. We then enjoyed an
informative presentation by Googly on his rover design work. After his
presentation the group cozied up together on the floor in sleeping bags
to watch the premier episode of Firefly. All were amazed by the
difference between Firefly and other sci fi shows. Googly was
especially enthralled by the view of the show seen on the inside of his
eyelids.
Today Crew 67 was once again habward bound watching endless rows of
dark and ominous clouds flow across the sky and listening to the wind
whistle by during the sand storm. Thankfully though, the hab stood
tall and proud, revealing only a few signs of weakness in the flapping
of her canopy and the sound of air filtering through her walls.
The trusty engineering team, Lox and Googly, finished the plumbing for
the dual diesel supply lines and brought Wendy to life again after 4
days without a diesel supply. The crew jumped for joy as they felt
comfortable enough to stretch their wings but quickly got back to work.
Sadly work on the weather station was cut short when the wind picked
up and a sand storm blew in.
With Wendy back up and running the science lab was invaded and some of
the equipment turned on. Agar plates were made by BioBabe to aid in
the cross training of the crew. Once the agar has solidified the crew
will learn how to collect bacterial samples from around areas in the
hab as well as how to streak the sample on the plate. Stay tuned to
hear how our experiment on ourselves goes.
Kim accepted the job left by Princess after she disembarked for
greener, earthbound pastures and spent the day repairing sim suits, GPS
units, and worked with Whisky to put some maps of the area together.
Fam hid in her room today working towards finishing a school project
whose timeline was unexpectedly contracted under professorial pressure.
Blondie made some advances with his box of hoarded goodies but realized
that our friendly freeze dried food packets blocked his ability to tell
when someone snuck a look inside the box. Blondie's shower experiment
is still going strong. His hair was washed today using "Astronaut
Shampoo" and there is no gym sock smell yet.
