Commander's Report

February 19, 2008

Randall Shelaga

Day 2 of Boot Camp and Private Ham is chuckling at the new crew! It
appears Private Ham shows no compassion for the new crewmembers, I hear
a familiar snicker as he watches their progress through the Station's
Cams, and reviews the EVA pictures and videos. It appears Private Ham
is nostalgic of his training many years back.

Regardless of what Private Ham thinks, the day started well, with the
crew enjoying reconstituted eggs and bacon. Salsa would be a welcome
addition.

EVA02, a Pedestrian EVA to Radio Ridge progressed well with the entire
training crew in Sim-Suits and the Commander and Executive Officer
braving the harsh environment to accompany the crew. The crew
experienced the trek and in cases faced their limitations and conquered
them.

Engineering continues to operate the Station on reduced power due to
Diesel Fuel limitations for the Primary Generator (Wendy). The First
Back-Up Generator is being operated on a 6 on/2 off cycle and continues
to support us well.

Tonight Heather Allaway (Callsign "Biobabe") will give us a
presentation of the biological viability project that she is conducting
during this rotation. This and the presentations that the other
crewmembers will give during this rotation, will help in crew
cross-training and understanding the work being done by fellow
crewmembers.

As we finish our reports, the crew will gather around the table for
supper. Tonight, we try Sweet and Sour Pork with Rice.

Tomorrow is Boot Camp Day 3, and the first official day of Sim for the
crew. Field Science begins in earnest and the Engineers will continue
with the GreenHAB and Power Generation systems.

Private Ham has just informed me that a matter requires my attention,
and that I may have to eject a crewmember through the airlock.

Until tomorrow!
