Special Science Report
Arthur Guest Reporting

Project:
MDRS Smart Small Logistics Container Research Project

Personnel:
Arthur Guest (Crew 66) & Phillip Cunio (Crew 67)

Operations Data Collected:
The Smart Small Logistics Container (SSLC) was operational all day.
Crew used various supplies (gloves, garbage bags, etc.) from the
container. These supplies were subsequently restocked in order to keep
a full inventory. This data will be analyzed using the RAILS V2
Interface by Phillip located in Cambridge, MA and he will produce a
usage list of the supplies being tracked. Today's run is a test of the
new operational plan that will be implemented during Expedition
Epsilon.

Progress was also made on the front of the RFID tags that need to be
re-programmed. We believe we have found a possible way to complete this
task in the field. This may not occur until the end of this week due to
availability of support personnel back in Cambridge, MA.

Technical/Equipment Issues:
The SSLC was working satisfactorily today. The only equipment issue is
related to the unreadable RFID tags. A solution for this problem is in
the works.

Discussion:
I believe that our operational plan for Ex Epsilon will work. This will
allow us to show the usage of RFID technology in the tracking of the
usage rates of certain supplies. I am still planning on using the
container to track various research gear that is being used on EVAs.
These items are not consumables, but once the unreadable tags have been
fixed, we will be able to track these items and show that RFID
technology can be used for completing autonomous inventories.

Another benefit of this project has been the input of the other crew
members.
Gathering their opinions regarding the benefits of RFID
technology as well as the usage of small logistics containers is
providing insight into potential future design requirements.

Questions for RST:
No questions at this time as we are successfully trouble shooting our
issues so that we can have a successful operational period.
