Special Science Report
Kerry Cupit Reporting
Project:
Soil Gas Analysis at MDRS as a Rapid Resource and Geologic Assessment
Tool
Personnel:
Kerry Cupit
Operations Data Collected:
Another successful EVA (EVA-16) resulted in 4 holes being drilled and
sampled. At one site, atmospheric measurements were made after the
hole was sampled in order to immediately compare hole results with a
baseline. There are differences which are promising to see, however
they are subtle. It will be difficult to tell during the data analysis
stage if the variations reported by the gas analyzer are within its
uncertainty range.

Technical/Equipment Issues:
All equipment worked perfectly.
Made a field equipment repair kit and brought it along on EVA today.
Kit includes extra pens and pencils, duct tape, two screwdrivers and
spare batteries.
Discussion:
8 of 18 holes remain to be drilled. There is only one crew member left
to cross train tomorrow, therefore it can be expected we will complete
another four holes on the next EVA.
Questions for RST:
Should I continue to include my raw data in special science reports?
I'm tracking them locally here and you're welcome to view them as well,
they just take a bit of extra time to prepare to include them in this
report. Thanks in advance!
