Crew Physical Status:
Optimistic yet slightly gassy: The optimism stems from the arrival of the new backup generator. The gassiness is a result of today's lunch, which was Chili Mac with Beef.
In general things are much improved.


Time Departed/Returned from EVA:
EVA 08:
Time Departed: 09:57

EVA 09:

Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results:
EVA 08: Tested equipment at one site and drilled an additional hole to ensure it was working. Further time was spent scouting for future sites.

EVA 09: Removed skirt from Hab in time for visit from Japanese film crew Friday. Transferred ATVs to engineering area so maintenance could be performed on the old Green model.


EVA Data/Interpretations:
EVA 08: Kerry is confident he will be able to start full-scale data collection within next two days.

EVA 09: Outside area clean enough to receive visitors.


Hab Maintenance:
Due to the failure of the generator we were without power for most of the day. Perry and “The Don” retrieved a new generator. The rest of the crew cleaned the Hab in preparation for our media visitors, and Kerry conducted an EVA to conduct further protocol and equipment validation.

Plans for Tomorrow:
A morning EVA for Kerry to do geology.
An afternoon EVA to finish laying the rope to Hab Ridge, and then practice FDM protocols.


Inventory:
Food supplies are 3/4 and sufficient for remaining time. Water supplies are sufficient. Gasoline sufficient. Propane good. New Generator very much appreciated.


Support Requested:
Instructions to fix hot water heater (or a new on-demand water heater). This has been in the engineering reports previous days, but was left out today so I mention it here as a reminder. Engineering report has already been submitted or we would have put this comment there.
