EVA #7 Report

February 6, 2008

Cheryl Wartman

Time:
Departed at 16:17
Returned at 18:05

Crew Members:
Kerry Cupit and Cheryl Wartman

Site Location:
Irregular Terrain and Flat Terrain roundabout route to sampling site as
road close to Hab is out. The route followed Lowell Highway then turned
left onto Brahe Highway and left again onto Schriaparelli Highway. Our
destination was 1.6 km west southwest of Hab.

Transit Mode:
ATV

Objectives:
To determine how the geology equipment will pack onto the ATVs.
To test a potential site for study.
To determine travel time to sites on ATVs.

Lessons Learned:
Travel time is longer than originally expected to site when taking the
detour. Must also factor in time to pack equipment on the ATVs in
estimation of time for the EVA.

The equipment packs well on the ATVs and can maintain an adequate speed
on them.

Driving west near sunset is extremely difficult. This should be taken
into account in planning future EVAs.
