Journalist Report
Matthew Bamsey Reporting

Cleaning day. The day started by a full force cleaning of MDRS. The place looks a lot better than it did yesterday and the cleaning session was good prep for the cleaning we'll need to do before we leave at the end of the week. Tuesday was our first full day with the new MDRS stairwell (really a ladder) and it is obvious that the whole crew agrees that it is a great improvement over the previous one - though it definitely takes a bit of practice to get used to the staggered steps (pretty fun though).

We've been fortunate to have two visitors today. Marc our first visitor is the principal investigator of the sleep study that we will be conducting on Devon. With him we went over the goals of the study and the equipment that will be used to monitor the crew when sleeping. He is also a medical doctor and gave us some great feedback on some of the medical and potential evacuation issues we may be facing this summer. Our second visitor Bruno from Discover magazine arrived late afternoon and is currently speaking with a few crewmembers about our program. Emily took him out for a round of engineering checks and Simon has since been discussing our geology program with him. We are also excited for yet another visitor tomorrow. Peter a wilderness first aid instructor, will be joining us starting tomorrow evening. The weather isn't looking too great over the next few days so it could be a little windy/snowy/cold on the fingers if we need to do any bandaging etc. Should be interesting.
