Log Book for February 23, 2007
Journalist Report
Kathryn Bywaters Reporting

Two exciting things happened today. First, we went into Sim. Second, a quick epidemic of feeling odd swept through the crew. Nothing serious I'm sure. But around the same time members of the crew had feelings of dizziness and/or headaches. No one is quite sure why, however the rotting flesh smell emanating from the wall in our commanders room (we think it is a dead rat) was blamed for a while. A mandatory rest period was enforced after lunch. Most of the crew took a nap, myself included. Naps are glorious things! After the nap we all felt much healthier and were able to go back to work.

We are trying to finish up all of our safety procedures while in the arctic. I know, I know, it doesn't sound like a lot but it REALLY is. Some things we covered - what to do if someone in the EVA party gets lost. This might not sound that complicated, but when it comes to safety you can never be too safe. We came up with procedures for what the people who get lost do, what the people who lose the person do, and what the people back at the Hab do. This way everyone knows what is expected of them and we all can react to a situation in a timely and effective manner. We also discussed interpersonal crew problems, waste disposal, food storage, and evacuation plans just to name a few.

Another interesting point for tomorrow is that we will be going out on an EVA. Other then just being exciting in general I am particularly excited because Simon is an EVA virgin. Check back tomorrow for details!
