Kathryn Bywaters Reporting

Weapons training and fire safety, it just doesn't get any better. We all learned from James how to safety handle and shot both a shotgun and a rifle. James is very knowledgeable on the subject of firearms, putting us all at ease and keeping us safe. And wow, how much fun! We are going to the shooting range tomorrow for some more target practice but I think that after today I can safely say that anyone of us could stand a chance against a polar bear. The shotgun does have quite a kick when you're shooting slugs. My shoulder may take a few days to recover especially after the work out Melissa gave it yesterday (with the arm wrestling). After a full afternoon of dealing with weapons Paul arrived to give us some fire extinguishing training. We all got our chance to put out a mini blaze of our own. We even experienced with alternative methods of fire extinguishing. Fun was had by all.

Spending the later part of the day outside seemed to brighten our spirits. We found ourselves laughing and joking a little longer and harder as the day grew on. We are really starting to come together as a team. I am amazed at how relaxed we seem around each other after only this short amount of time. I don't want to speak too soon but I think that crew selection went well. Thanks Guys.
