Danielle Cormier Reporting
Last night the crew had its final party, complete with a bonfire in the engineering area. Then after we ran out of wood to burn, we came back to the Hab and had a dance party. These were our final goodbyes to our crewmate Olathe, since she was to leave early morning to drive back to Salt Lake City in V'ger.
The remaining five crewmembers ended up sleeping in (we had gone to bed very late) and then treating themselves to a big brunch to start off a big day of cleaning, data exchange and cooking for the arriving crew. Melissa set off with Paul early in the afternoon to hit the shooting range (those going to FMARS need to know how to handle a rifle) and to get some laundry done, since she's commanding the next crew and will be sticking around MDRS for two more weeks.
Our friend Ryan Kobrick from the next crew arrived mid-afternoon, after a pretty difficult drive from Colorado. He actually had to wait two hours before he could cross the Rockies because crews were attempting to divert an avalanche.
So we are expecting a pretty full Hab for dinner, with both crews present and perhaps a few visitors from the Science Advisory Group (SAG). Both crews will be sleeping at the Hab tonight, and after all handover activities are complete tomorrow morning, Randy, Lealem and Danielle will drive to Salt Lake City while Jon makes his way back to Colorado.
