Journalist Report
Danielle Cormier Reporting

At the beginning of our rotation, we had already decided that today would be a day off for the crew. Well, this happened to be a great decision, because as we woke up this morning, the weather really did not seem to be conducive to EVAs. The sky was grey and cloudy and the amount of noise generated by the high winds was quite impressive. The tops of the Henry Mountains were lost in clouds around 11 am; then, around noon, the Henry Mountains disappeared completely from our view. Thankfully, we only had a little rain; any more than that and we would have been stuck inside for many days, as the area surrounding the Hab would have turned into a mud field that usually takes many days to dry out.

So the crew settled in for a full day inside the Hab. Jon made wonderful pancakes for brunch and the crew ate them gleefully, especially after so many days of freeze-dried food. The rest of the day was spent talking, watching videos, catching up with e-mail and doing yoga. Tonight’s activities will probably include watching a movie, all the while keeping an eye on the threat of more rain outside.
