Olathe Clark Reporting

Project: Regolith Landform Mapping and Microbial Survey Crossover

Personnel: Danielle, Melissa, Olathe

Operations/Data Collected: An area of septarian nodules (mud balls) was found East of Hab and documented and will be submitted as a waypoint. Successfully followed Sklar Field Documentation Methodology (FDM) to perform scouting at a zero-zero site, followed immediately by worksite evaluation of halophile/regolith-landform mapping sites in Chandor Chasma. Sampled endolith-bearing sandstone, and suspected halophile-bearing evapourites (calcite + other minerals).

Technical/Equipment Issues: Our science equipment worked very well - we have developed an excellent sampling system.

Discussion/Next Step: While in the field together, Melissa and Olathe were able to refine a protocol to coordinate the biology and geology research. The development of a system for handling the data from FDM and cataloging the samples is well underway.
