EVA Reports
Brogan Hetrick & Liz Gauthier Reporting

EVA-11: (Performed out of simulation):
Brogan Hetrick

Time: 1030-1235
Site Location: Candor Chasma (Entrance Location- UTM 12 S 521638 4250787)
Crew: Brogan, Seth

Primary Objective: To test out repairs done on the ATVs, and verify their readiness for long duration EVAs.

Secondary Objective: To locate a secondary entrance into Candor Chasma, allowing EVA crews to drive the ATVs closer to their points of interest.

Tasks Performed: ATVs 1 and 2 performed satisfactorily on their retests. Pictures were taken of multiple sites of potential interest for further investigation. A short-cut was found to previous sites of interest, which will reduce travel time needed to reach these points, as well as limit time EVA crews must travel on foot.

Lessons Learned: ATV-1 must be selected to the Reserve Fuel position. It is possible to drive ATVs directly into Candor Chasma.

EVA-12:
Liz Gauthier

Time: 1500 - 1552
Crew: Cassie, Liz, Seth

Objective: To collect sheet gypsum samples.

Tasks Performed: The ATVs went up Tank Wash and collected multiple sheet gypsum samples. After, we went up to the Lower Blue Hills to explore new geological or biological sites.

EVA-13:
Brogan Hetrick

Time: 1715-1805
Site Location: Engineering Area "Antarctica" (Note: non-suited personnel were on hand observing the evolution for safety reasons.)
Crew: Brogan, Seth, Anna

Objective: To survey the area in preparation for construction of a fuel platform for fueling the ATVs.

Tasks Performed: Measurements of the area, including hardware to be used and the fuel drums and depth, slope and length of the ground in the area.

Lessons Learned: Pre-EVA briefings are effective to minimize time for competing tasks in the field. Carrying tools and other equipment is difficult in a space suit.
