Log Book for January 24, 2007
Engineering Report
Brogan Hetrick Reporting

Generator/Electricity:

Casper: not used
Wendy Hobbs Meter: 2172.7 hrs (+16.9 hrs since yesterday)
Voltage: 140 VAC
Frequency: 60 Hz
Oil Level: 7/8
Oil Pressure: 40 PSI
Water Drained: no
Notes/Comments: After talking to Paul, we intend to set the inverter voltage to 117 VAC, and then calibrate the Wendy's voltmeter to match. This should clear the discrepancy in VAC.

Xantrex Inverter/Dynasty Batteries:

Time - Voltage (Temp Comp) - Load - Temp - Generator Running
18:00 - 26.3 - 11 - 08 - Yes
Notes/Comments: A visual inspection under the hab (no crew member went under the hab)revealed that most of the battery insulation has blown away. This may be a partial cause for the poor battery performance.

Fuel Status (as of 18:15):

Diesel: Approximate Reading: 1/2
Notes/Comments: The diesel level is slightly above 1/2.
Propane Tank: Approximate Reading: 23% (230 gallons = 870.6 L)

Water Status:

Outside Potable Water Tank Level: 300 gallons = 1135.6 L
Trailer Potable Water Tank Level: 0 cm from the base
Potable Water Meter Reading: 17770.9 gallons = 67270.0 L (+48.2 gallons since yesterday)
Out to Toilet Meter Reading: 5978.1 gallons = 22629.5 L (+13.4 gallons since yesterday)
In to GreenHab Meter Reading: 7257.4 gallons = 27472.2 L (no change since yesterday)
Flushes: 0
Showers: 2
Sponge Baths: 0
Notes/Comments: The trailer water tank was taken to be refilled.

GreenHab:

Crops Watered: yes
Status: We were able to fill RFT2, and also brushed off the feed rings. This seems to have fixed the issues with the water flow.
Crop Condition: Crops are looking much better.

Transportation:

V'ger Used: no
Oil Checked: no
Tire Status: good
Odometer: 0 miles (+820300 miles since January 21, 2007)

Kawasaki ATV-1 Used: yes
Oil Checked: yes
Fuel Consumed: 1 gallon = 3.8 L
Tire Status: good

Kawasaki ATV-2 Used: no
Oil Checked: yes
Tire Status: good

Kawasaki ATV-3 Used: yes
Oil Checked: yes
Fuel Consumed: 1 gallon = 3.8 L
Tire Status: good

Notes/Comments: ATV-2 needs a new spark plug. Paul delivered the needed parts today, and we will be replacing plugs in both ATV-2 and ATV-3 tomorrow. ATV-1 was returned today, and appears to be in good working order.

Miscellaneous Infrastructure:

HVAC: Nothing further to report.

Mars Surface Suits: We have started to take the helmets off the space suits between EVAs as requested. All space suits are functioning properly.

Computers/Networking Infrastructure: Nothing further to report.

Appliances: Nothing further to report.

Data Logger: Data loggers were used on todays EVA for our Sklar FDM training. To prevent loss of Bluetooth connections, the Bluetooth transmitters were taped to paint sticks and then attached to the end of each PDA. We had no dropped signals with this set up. See EVA report for further details.

Upgrade Work: Nothing further to report.
