Commander's Check-In
Bill Clancey Reporting
Time: started 3:10 PM, completed 19:10 PM
Weather: low 14.5c (58.1F) high of 30.2c (86.4F), hot and dry with broken clouds
Crew Physical Status: All in good health and tanned.
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results: Today was finally a Saturday that was a real Saturday. We woke at our own pace, and without our usual briefing, proceeded to write reports, pack, and clean the hab. I spent over eight hours on yesterday's log, processing photos, and the mission summary. The crew has done a great job cleaning the kitchen, shelves, tables, and toilet.
Mission support has been very helpful giving instructions for powering down the hab and closing the GreenHab appropriately. I appreciate knowing that people are standing by, ready and able to assist.
Following tradition, we created and printed a name plate for our doors. Maarten found last year's file, so we simply duplicated the design with this year's patch. I placed mine in the center, just below MDRS28, to the left of my friend Charles Frankel's, and close to my first from MDRS5. I took a moment to read the names of all the people who have stayed in this room before, and to think about their experiences.
Tonight we have the traditional last dinner in Hanksville.
Plans for Tomorrow: Finish packing, drive to Salt Lake City, fly home.
Report Transmission Schedule: Engineering report is expected.
Maintenance: No problems.
EVA Narrative/Data/Interpretations: NA
Inventory: Starting to prepare for emptying the refrigerator.
Miscellaneous: All human experience has a natural progression of phases. This part is called the closing.
