Log Book for May 3, 2004
EVA Robotic Assistant Report
Crew 29 Reporting

Today the ERA team spent from 0930 until about 1700 out in the hot sun at Lith Canyon.
  • Nathan and Rob groomed the path that Boudreaux will take on it's manual, labor-intensive, and somewhat risky descent to the bottom of Lith.
  • Nathan spent considerable time location good anchoring points (big rocks!) for Boudreaux's belay and testing the ropes to be used.
  • Jeff strategized with Maarten Sierhuis, Ron Van Hoof, and Bill Clancey over the logistics, contengencies, and general flow of the scenario.
  • Kim and Jeff helped collect the necessary waypoints for the Brahms tool. Jeff wore the infoPak and communicated to Kim when a waypoint needed to be recorded. Rob kept an eye on the remaining battery life on the infoPak.
  • Rob helped Ric Alena with evaluation of data communications from the infoPak at the bottom of Lith up to Ric's ATV repeater. The results were excellent.
  • Nathan, Rob, and Jeff groomed the road for a smoother ride of the ERA moving van from the MDRS out to the Lith Canyon site where it will stay until the Lith Scenario is over (probably Friday).
  • Jeff, Maarten, and Bill worked out the best location for the van to be parked that afforded the most shade and view of the 1st segment of the scenario.
After the intense site survey was concluded (about 1700), the ERA team returned to the MDRS Hab and packed up the moving van for transition to Lith.
