Log Book for March 4, 2004
Commander's Check-In
Kevin Sloan Reporting

Crew Status: All 6 crew members are in excellent condition.

Daily Recap: Today has been a power conservation day, as we had to switch from the Generac to the backup generator, "Li'l Genny", late last night. The propane levels dropped far below a usable level, and the diesel generator is still out of commission temporarily. After early morning maintenance of Li'l Genny, the crew got moving on their two EVAs today. On EVA 6, Amy, Kevin and Ryan performed the second RST biology mission. The afternoon EVA of Daniel, Dennis and Jason performed the second RST geology mission. The crew now feels rather comfortable with the tele-science process, and the collaboration with the RST is running smoothly. Tonight we are still conserving power to appease Li'l Genny. This will continue through Saturday when the diesel is brought online.

Tomorrow's Plan: Tomorrow will be more of the same. The crew will continue with the RST mandated EVAs, as well as several of the engineering tasks around the HAB.

Daily Reports: Tonight's reports should all be filed by from our end by 22:00. We are still working on a lot of the report procedure with the RST, so that will cause some delay with the EVA and science reports being filed to Mission Support. The current power situation poses a small threat of halting tonight's work, should the backup generator go offline. Hopefully this will not become an issue.

Support Requested: Jason will be addressing the current power situation in tonight's engineering report. He has already spoken with Paul Graham via email about several of these issues; however Mission Support should pay close attention to tonight's report for updates. Also, Jason will be submitting design proposals for the shelter for the diesel generator in a separate email. Mission Support and the engineering staff need to decide on a design by early tomorrow morning at the absolute latest so that the crew can construct it tomorrow.
