Geology Report
Kyoichi Sasazawa Reporting

Introduction: We took an EVA toward Barsoom Outcrop, 6.2 km north of Hab.

Geological Description: The Barsoom outcrop exposed an upper part of the Morrison Formation. We described layers that observed as follows:
  • light yellow coarse sandstone with conglomerate
  • greenish mudstone
  • reddish mudstone
  • purple mudstone
  • light yellow fine sandstone
Layers are horizontal and variegated, but reddish sediments are dominant. We collected a sample of gray hard shale blocks near the outcrop.

Conclusion: We confirmed a sequence of the Morrison Formation at northern part in this area.
