Geology Report
Kyoichi Sasazawa Reporting

Introduction: We collected rock samples from Candor Chasma at EVA 11.

Geological Description: Candor Chasma mainly exposes the Salt Wash Member of the upper Jurassic Morrison Formation. The overlying Brushy Basin Member is exposed around the Hab.

Sample List:
  • Locality: UTM 0521.332E 4251.081N Micritic limestone
  • Locality: on the route from 125 to UTM 0521.332E 4251.081N Gypsum
  • Locality: 0519.69E 4252.40N (Wpt 124) Gray hard micritic limestone
Conclusion: The Salt Wash Member locally contains uranium deposits. We will try to measure radioactivity by using a counter.
