Digby Tarvin Reporting

Mars is usually considered a somewhat isolated place, so getting visitors is a big event. Today we had quite a few.

Firstly there was a morning visit by our supply ship, in the form of Don Foutz, bringing in supplies for the MDRS GreenHab experiment. For crews on an isolated Mars base, little luxuries from home will mean a lot, and this time somebody had thoughtfully placed a tin of smokehouse almonds in with our science supplies. If that thoughtful person is reading this - Thank You!

Next we had a visit from Dr David Allred of Brigham Young University and a number of his students. They were conducting research using the MDRS facility, and were here to work on the GreenHab and observatory.

On top of all this, we mounted a geological ATV EVA to the North East of the hab, including Candor Chasma. The exploration of the latter involved dismounting the ATVs and descending on foot.

After the debriefing for the first EVA, a second EVA exited the hab to test techniques for towing ATVs - a prudent precursor to more extended EVAs in the light of the problems we have experienced.

Now we are back to our evening reporting duties, and being Saturday night, making a valiant effort to finish before midnight tonight. Otherwise, just another normal day on Mars.
