GreenHab Report
Bob McNally Reporting

The sump pump in the 110 gallon tank did not send water into the GreenHab even after the warm temperatures of the day. Diego and I opened up the tank, and fished around carefully for the sump pump. We found the pump, brought it carefully to the surface using a small hoe, and fixed recovery lines to the pump and the outlet hose for future maintainence. We confirmed that the pump does pump, with the discharge line disconnected, and we then probed the discharge line for blockage. We found an obstruction about 1 meter in (probing from the pump end). It felt solid, not easily broken up with the snake, so we stopped pushing it from the pump end. Tomorrow we will separate the GreenHab inlet hose at it's splice, and snake through from that end to see if the blockage can be cleared. We have not removed any water from tank 5 since we added water to it yesterday.

Considering ahead, in the event the blockage cannot be cleared with the little snake we have here, we may look into running a hose from the sump pump, out the entry port of the tank, over the ground and into the GreenHab to provide feedwater to the filter tank system. This system would not be freeze proof, but could be arranged so that water drained back into the tank when it was not in use so it would not freeze. This would allow the GreenHab to continue functioning while a better solution is worked out. If the snaking does not work, another alternative would be a better snake, since the one we have is a simple flat wire, looped at the business end, with no arrangement for rotating like a sheathed cable snake.
