Digby Tarvin Reporting

Our second day on Mars began with a surprise visit by Don Foutz from the "Whispering Sands" resupply vessel. He supplied us with a new computer to replace the failed HabCom computer, which he installed and showed us how to use it to contact him and to read messages from Mission Support. He also supplied us with the missing fuel knob from ATV2, which we needed to make it fully functional.

Then, after our morning meeting the crew was split into task groups to address several outstanding chores including the Observatory check out, GreenHab sump pump trouble shooting, drawing up rosters, ATV repair and navigational planning for the afternoon activities.

After the work on the ATVs, all three seemed to be working and were used successfully for familiarization and training of all crew members.

Then maintenance and training activity around the Hab was concluded in mid afternoon, and all fit crew members were taken out on a pedestrian EVA without suits to gain familiarity with the terrain and geology, and to get some experience with navigation and judging distances.

The crew returned to the Hab at 18:30 looking forward to our last meal before going into Sim, which is scheduled to occur at 21:00 tonight at the conclusion of our reporting.
