Log Book for May 10, 2003
Commander's Summary
Brent Bos Reporting

Our day started an hour earlier this morning to give ourselves the best chance of completing all of our work.

We had our morning meeting at 7:00 am and our final EVA team in the airlock at 8:11 am. The team was led by Elia. He was joined by Petra and Mark. Due to an electrical problem with one of the ATV's, Mark performed his drilling experiment around the Hab while Elia and Petra explored for biology samples to the southeast. At the end of the EVA, the team retrieved the biology experiments deployed around the Habitat. The crew was back in the Hab at 10:40 am.

We broke sim at noon as planned, had lunch and then cleaned up the Hab. French TV filmed inside most of the afternoon. Crew 18 went into Hanksville for its final meal together and returned around 7:30.

David Allred and his group of BYU students did not show up until the early evening but they have been given a tour of the necessary systems and feel comfortable with taking over.

David, Charles and I divided up the Hab shutdown tasks. We will leave the generator running for Charles when he comes tomorrow morning. We will also get rid of all the perishable food items and empty the interior water tank. He will take care of getting the ATV's to Hanksville when he is done with them. He will also lock the Hab when he is done and turn off the gas at the LP tank. When David returns on Wednesday or Thursday, he will get the Hab keys from Don Foutz and turn the systems back on. When David is done with his work, he will arrange for the generator to be towed into town.

The crew is currently finishing up the last remaining reports and packing. We will be leaving the Hab at 9:00 am tomorrow.
