EVA-12 Report
Simone Kosol & Dave Scott Reporting
EVA Team: Dave, Petra, Mark
HabCom: Simone
Total Time: 3 hours, 23 minutes
Dave, Petra and Mark went out today for drilling. Mark wants to look for methane in these drilling samples. Together with Dave, he found some interesting spots. Unfortunately the weather went very bad and the EVA team had to stop the drilling because of the rain. They could only take one sample instead of five.
They wanted to take samples at Tank Wash, the reservoir south of Tank Wash and in a tributary of Muddy Creek. The primary objective was to drill at the tributary (which they did). This area was at the bottom of the intermittent stream bed where there were dark, silty channel deposits. This area was thought to have both deep and organic-rich sediments that would best fit the team's model for methane production. After taking this sample the EVA team had to stop because of the rain and hail. They headed back over the slick mud and returned to the Hab to dry off.
