Log Book for May 6, 2003
Commander's Summary
Brent Bos Reporting

We had our normal morning meeting today at the usual time, 8:00 am, to discuss this crew's 10th EVA. I decided to indulge myself one last time and take part. The primary goal was to make it all the way to Factory Butte.

The team entered the airlock at 11:02 pm and returned 5 hours and 29 minutes later. Factory Butte was not reached due to the simulation "walk back" safety constraint.

The evening meeting was held at 6:40 to discuss today's EVA and tomorrow's plans. I decided to possibly use Thursday's EVA, which has been our wild card EVA, to get a team all the way to Factory Butte within the simulation constraints. If Simone and Elia can obtain the samples they want as part of this trip, then it will probably happen. It has become my white whale.

Tomorrow Mark will go on EVA to attempt his drilling experiment again. We will have our morning meeting at 8:00 am and shoot for a suit up time of 9:30 am.

One final note, we have arranged an online meeting with the rover support team from the University of Michigan for 8:00 pm, our time, on Wednesday night to discuss the long rover EVA on Friday.
