Commander's Summary
Brent Bos Reporting
Today was mostly a day off for us and it felt good. I called off our morning meeting so that people could sleep as long as they wanted. I slept in until 8:30 am. Everybody was up by 9:00.
Elia and Simone did a short EVA at noon to retrieve some of their biology experiments. It only took them an hour outdoors and we quickly got them back into relaxation mode.
I used some of the time to catch up on my optical dust measurements. It felt good to get everything out of the queue. It takes about 45 minutes to process the samples from each EVA.
Otherwise the crew has been playing chess, checking emails, surfing the web, taking naps and getting to know each other better. We will have a quick evening meeting at 6:00 pm and then try to put the rest of our day off to good use. Tonight I will show home movies from the first season at FMARS for those who are interested.
One new constraint I am going to implement tonight is that no one is to run water between 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. The pump makes too much noise and disturbs everyone's sleep.
Tomorrow Dave Scott is going to lead an extended EVA, greater than 5 hours, on ATV with Simone and Elia. This will be primarily geology orientated and we will try to plan it to maximize the territory explored under the reference mission simulation constraint.
Back to work tomorrow.
