Commander's Report
David Fuller Reporting
Today was basically a wrap up day for the crew. Jody organized one more EVA to Candor Chasma Canyon, where he saw the Summerville formation underlying the Morrison formation. Meanwhile I stayed mostly in the Hab acting as a subject for Derek's mobility assessment trial.
We also took care of odd jobs that needed to be done, such as putting up hooks in the shower room, leveling the 20 kw generator, and putting up a shelf to support the satellite interface computer and modems.
I spent some time finalizing logistics plans and handover schedule with the incoming crew via email. Crew 16 began arriving this evening, and Saturday morning they will start the handover process. We will finish handover on Sunday morning, and Crew 15 will depart the Hab around 10:00 Sunday morning.
This afternoon I began the Crew 15 Rotation Summary Report. Other members of the crew are making their inputs, we will review it together and ship it to Mission Support tonight.
This evening Jim Beyer from University of Michigan came in to make some small repairs to the Everest rover and train the incoming crew. We invited him to dinner. He seemed to like the barley and mushroom casserole, he wasn't so enthusiastic about the MREs. He also has had some experience with the MUSK optical observatory, so as I write this he is out in the dome with Tim and Derek to see if they can get some images.
