Even though yesterday was our official rest day, its seems we rested too hard yesterday. The crew didn't rouse out of bed until 8:00 or so, and breakfast didn't get on the table until 9:00. After one of our favorite breakfasts of grits and eggs (courtesy of April and Jody) Jody planned an EVA to investigate Hab Ridge and try to get a better view of Skyline Ridge.

Meanwhile, Derek broke out his equipment to begin his accelerometer based mobility assessment trial. It consisted of strapping on accelerometers to Tim and recording the data via telemetry to his laptop. Derek want to see if persons living in the Hab are more or less mobile than persons in a less confined space.

Derek also handed out pedometers today, and every half hour we read off our numbers to him. Its interesting how some people in the group appear to very active and moving around a lot, and others seem sedentary.

Jody was accompanied on his EVA by Kim. They started suiting up at 9:30 and were out the airlock by 10:30. Taking 2 ATVs, they found their way up to a spot overlook the Hab. I broke out my camcorder and took some very nice shots of them on the ridge above us, doing very space like things. Now if I can only get Derek to upload it to the Mars Society, and get the Mars Society to put it on their website, I'll soon be getting calls from a major study, I'm sure.

The afternoon was spent in various repair and maintenance tasks, including trouble shooting the nonfunctioning tail lights on the blue truck, sweeping and tidying up the Hab, preparing meals.
