General Engineering Report
Derek O'Keeffe Reporting
Generator/Electricity: The gasoline generator was filled at 6.30am and again at 6pm.This generator continues to be the main source of power for the Hab.
Water: Transferred 26 gallons at 7am this morning
Telescope: Nothing done with it at present - we will investigate it during our tour of duty.
Everest Rover: The Rover generator has been running all day, no problems.
Computers: All machines and networks are running well.
Additional Activities: Crew XVs first EVA was performed today at 2pm. All 6 members of the crew took part in a two 3 person team exercise in full simulation mode. Alpha Team marked an object to be recovered with a GPS mark and Bravo Team recovered it. This exercise allowed a full test of the functionality of the space suits as well as practice of the suiting / de-suiting procedure for all of the crew. The suits / backpacks / radios all performed well, but the radio headsets were the weakest link in the chain. All three of the headsets used on the EVAs only worked intermittently - the radios themselves are working fine - therefore it is just the physical wear and tear on the actual hardware of the headsets that is causing the problem and I recommend that a new batch of headsets should be procured for the station.
