Log Book for March 12, 2003
General Engineering Report
Graham Mann Reporting

Generator/Electricity: Despite some 'hunting' heard overnight, the generator continues to run well. At 0650 hrs the oil level was at or above second mark on dipstick. The Hobbs meter was read but the reading was later misplaced -- the generator did run continually since the last report.

Propane: Amerigas truck visited this morning after check, so tanks will have been filled. At 1440 hrs the tank readings were: South 85%, North 91%, Furnace 86%.

Water: Internal tank filled at 0730 hrs from 7-55 gallons.

GreenHab: No progress made, since no instructions from Greenhab team and no local expertise.

Everest Rover: Returned this evening. Problem with a long dipstick that will not slide back into its receptacle; we are currently checking with Michigan Team to decide the best course of action.

ARES Rover: No change; extension cord borrowed for Everest.

Datalogger: Completed integration of datalogger display into 2nd MarsSkin chestplate; used datalogger on EVA-58 with MDRS suit. Checks out okay.

Additional Activities: EVA-E02 to near repeater to check condition. Learned that the transciever is powered by green and white twisted pair from hab. Screen was dark so could not read display, but otherwise unit seemed to be working. Plastic bag weatherproofing is torn and should be replaced.

(Note from mission support: This unit is not a repeater but a radio meant to be remotely operated from the hab; the NOAA radio mounted on the wall seems to be the one currently in use instead. Some additional information has been sent to the crew about that remote radio in case they want to try it out.)

Also investigated a small tripod which was spotted from the North window. It is a sprinkler, apparently once used to spray out grey water before the Greenhab was built.

Three photographs taken under the Hab for Guy Murphy's architecture study.
