Log Book for February 20, 2003
General Engineering Report
Jean Lagarde Reporting
Generator/Electricity - measured at 0608 hrs: Voltage at 250 vac. Amperage is close to 0 amp. Frequency 61 Hertz and DC volts is at 15 vdc. The oil level was barely at the second mark, so I assisted Steve to add about one cup of oil.
Propane Tanks - measured at 0608 hrs: #1 tank (North side) is at 85%. #2 tank (South side) is at 81%. The furnace tank is at 84%. The Hobbs meter is at 2402.7.
Water: The water tank was refilled from 15 to 47 gallons at 2323 hrs on 19 Feb, and from 10 to 50 at 1520 hrs today. The second refill used the new and improved tank cover wich pipe attachment, which behaved very well.
Additional Activities: About ATV #1, I apologize, as I may not have mentioned the problem in earlier reports. The issue was not a hard failure and it was noticed a few days ago. The ATV starts and can run at very low speed, but on speeding up it runs very roughly and reaches a low top speed. We have been using only the two other rovers since. We were waiting for Don to have a look at it, and were hoping that it would be something simple like bad spark plugs, but Don cannot figure what is wrong and recommends that we bring it to a dealer. He is under the impression that they are still under warranty.
Although as you know the "check belt" light is on on all the ATVs Don has checked them and feels that they are fine (the light comes up after 100 key-on hours no matter what); however, if we do bring ATV 1 for repair, it would be an option to bring one of the other two (our trailer can hold two) for a check as well.
As mentioned in a previous email, a state public health department representative visited today and asked that the Society contact him about making our water treatment system legal. Details in that email.
The seller of the laptop offered to send me another CD-ROM/diskette drive unit. Since I am departing on Sunday, I had the replacement drive shipped to my home and will bring the laptop with me to at least load the operating system once it is in order. I will then ship it back to Don Foutz so he can complete the installation.
