General Engineering Report
Jean Lagarde Reporting
Generator/Electricity - measured at 0613 hrs: Voltage at 257 vac. Amperage is at about 1 amp. Frequency 61 Hertz and DC volts is at 15 vdc.
Propane Tanks - measured at 0613 hrs: #1 tank (North side) is at 0%. #2 tank (South side) is at 11%. The furnace tank is at 54%. The Hobbs meter is at 2378.4. Amerigas refilled the tanks as planned this morning, to 85%.
Water: The water tank was refilled from 10 to 35 gallons at 1430 hrs. The level was kept low because we had removed the tank cap to fix the way the incoming pipe was held.
Additional Activities: A crew member noticed water in stateroom 5 in the evening of 18 Feb, and the cause was observed real time when the tank refill was attempted today. The incoming pipe, which was held in place through the tank cover by a rusted nail and a sponge, had worked its way up and water was probably splashing up against the inside of the cover. We are working on a more secure way to hold the pipe.
Tuesday the repeater stopped working likely because of overuse (I had forgotten to brief the EVA crews to not use the repeater frequency for intra-EVA communications on Tuesday morning, and we had not used the radios on Monday). The batteries must have recharged yesterday afternoon since the repeater was working again today.
The habcom and observatory computers continue to work smoothly (we are not using the observatory however). A used laptop that had been mail ordered to become a dedicated gateway for the satellite link was received yesterday, but the CD-ROM appears to be non-functional, which prevents the installation of the operating system.
Supplies: There are two bottles of the biodegradable soap in use (one upstairs and one down), and there are three full quarts in a cupboard in the lab. This will most certainly last for rotation 14 but I am mentioning the current supply for the sake of planning until the end of the season.
