Log Book for February 8, 2003
General Engineering Report
Klaus Totzek Reporting

Generator/Electricity: today we have measured the following data: Voltage steady 255-VAC, Amperage also is steady at 3-amps. Frequency 60-Hertz and DC volts steady at 14.2-VDC.

Propane Tanks: #1 tank (North side) 55%. #2 tank (South side) 34% and the furnace tank now is at 70%.

Water: The water tank is currently at 20 gallons after a minor filling last at 1:45 p.m. The level of the outside tank is reducing. The current consumption was 20 gallons in an approximate 24 hour period.

Additional Activities: We have had the coldest night, minus 15.2-C (4.6-F). As a result our fresh water tank outside the Habitat was frozen, as was the pipe for the wash basin inside the bathroom. So the crew could not have a wash in the morning and it was not possible to refill the tank before midday.

GreenHab: Same procedure as every day. The grey water recycling system does not work. We worked on the problem and found out, that a flexible tube was disconnected between a pump and the UV filter, so there was no water flow and the pump was running hot. Probably we can use it tomorrow again when it is cooled down. Otherwise we will need a new pump.

We tried out the advice of Tony from Mission Support to clean the helmets with liquid soap before use on EVA. This will reduce the fogging in the helmets dome and it worked.
