During all EVAs heart rate monitors were worn by the team members. So far in only one case an extraordinary heart rate stress was detectable. The respective crewmember suffers from a bad cold. Based on the heart rate data and the general physical conditions he was excluded from participating of EVAs . All other crewmembers completed their EVAs so far without extraordinary physical stress. On EVA-7 a direct comparison between a good trained crewmember and an untrained crewmember was performed. EVA-7 was a scouting EVA and includes driving of ATVs as well as hiking.

The pulse rate diagrams of EVA-7 are shown in Fig. 1 below:

Today it was visible that beside physical activity also psychical stress during EVAs resulted in elevated heart rates. This was visible on a heart rate diagram of EVA-9 were the highest heart rate levels could be detected during a ATV drive in heavy terrain.
