Log Book for February 7, 2003
General Engineering Report
Klaus Totzek Reporting

Generator/Electricity: today we have measured the following data: Voltage steady 250-VAC, Amperage also is steady at 16-amps. Frequency 62-Hz, and DC volts steady at 14.2-VDC.

Propane Tanks: #1 tank (North side) has moved from 60% to 55% in 24 hours of use. #2 tank (South side) has diminished to 45% from 40% in the same period. The furnace tank now is at 75%.

Water: The water tank is currently at 12 gallons after a minor filling last at 9:15 a.m. The outside tank is almost nearly full. So the current consumption was 12 gallons in a time of approximate 24 hours.

Additional Activities: The pipe from the fresh water tank inside to the Habitat was frozen once more and so we decided to make an EVA to cover the pipe with heat isolation materials.

There were problems with the ATVs: The EVA team needs couple of minutes (nearly approximate 15) to start the engines. Maybe this occurs out from the cold of approximate minus 12° centigrade (10.4°F) during the night.

We're think about a possibility of reconstructing the air ventilation inside of the helmets. They will be misty within minutes. Probably a small flexible rubber tube, which is connected with the ventilator system of the backpack could solve this problem.

We need to find a solution in cooperation with mission support. We also need to clean and adjust the radios once new.

Generally there is a problem with the dust for the technical equipment. Our digital camera dropped down, also the one of the GPS.

We also could not find a solution to our dirty water tank in the Greenhab.
