Crew 13 Reporting

Crew members were equipped with heart rate monitors (HRM) during the EVA's and for a time in the hab. HR were measured using POLAR sensors and analyzed by POLAR HR analysis software. The results will lead to a study of the physical stresses experienced during the mission. The aim is to correlate individual heart rates to the stresses of different activities. E.g. the data gathered on EVA 4 demonstrates that taking samples by hand drilling leads to an extraordinary physical stress . In consequence the persons selected for geological sampling missions have to be closely monitored regarding their physical stress.

Materials for the balloon experiment have only arrived today. Experiment will begin tomorrow.

Materials and products for the sleep experiments are still on the way due to delays of bad weather. They should arrive on Thursday, experiments will begin after the setup of the sleep systems.

During the night the observatory was used for first visual observations of Jupiter and several messier deep sky objects M1, M 44, M45 and M42. The observers were impressed by the extraordinary good visibility. There are problems with the remote control of the observatory by VNC Viewer. We will contact Arno of crew 12 regarding this. If possible the CCD camera should be used for first shoots during the next couple of nights.
