Strata at the bottom of Candor, showing the criss-crossing thin white material - probably gypsum, that seemed to penetrate many layers of sediment.

From the bottom of Candor Chasma, looking up at the East rim. The entire canyon was lined with debris aprons like these, and most of the strata possessed the thin white material that crossed the sediment layers.

At the bottom of Candor Chasma, Jon Rask collects rock and sediment samples. The strata in the background is streaked with very thin (<1"), bright white layers, probably an intrusion layer of some sort.
